Restoration and preservation.

Here at Triples Manuals and Handbooks we pride ourselves on providing quality technical books for a wide range of equipment from all over the globe. We receive many manuals in a wide range of condtions, some of which you can view before and after examples of below. Our manuals are thoroughly inspected and restored to rigorous standards to return them to an "as new" or "better than new" condition. Many hours are spent scanning and digitally restoring manuals page by page to provide to you, the customer, the perfect manual. See some of our restoration work below and allow us to explain what we do...

Restoration process.

Our process starts with inspection of the manual and verifying all pages are present. The manual is then high definition scanned and a digital restoration begins. All marks, tears, dirt, grease, fingerprints and distortions are removed without damaging or removing original content contained within the document. Annotations/handwritten notes from previous owners are also removed. Page alignment/page position, exposure and faded sections are also adjusted. The end result is a crisp, clean document ready for print. Many hours can be spent repairing a single manual, depending on its size and condition.

Printing and binding.

Every manual presented here is printed on high quality paper and printed in maximum definition to preserve full detail. We use high quality 100GSM to 120GSM paper for hard wearing pages and greater longevity. Professionally printed covers printed on 250GSM matt or gloss cover sheet. The outer protective covers are 400 micron polyethylene sheet to ensure a rugged, wear and dirt resistant manual that should last a lifetime. Bindings are either comb bound or saddle stitched (depending on the manual).

Preservation.

Many manuals we receive are extermely damaged and almost beyond repair. Some literally fall apart in our hands and due to availabilty, is the only article we have to work with. In the case of older Diazoprint/Whiteprint process printed manuals, the paper was originally sub-standard and many are affected by bleaching and UV light damage which leads to extreme fading and are sometimes beyond repair. Many original manuals are covered in general workshop grime from many years of use. Using our thorough restoration processes, we aim to preserve older technical manuals for reference and use for many years to come.
